A 27-year-old man who thought he had gamed the HDB BTO system took to social media looking for a girl to “marry on paper”.
In an anonymous post to popular confessions page SGWhispers titled “HDB bTO investment plan”, the 27-year-old man wrote: “just want to ask is it possible to find a girl to marry on paper in order to buy a bto, then each of us pay 50% of the bto, with no intimate r/s involved, basically me or the girl can bring any guy/girl home”.
In a paragraph-long sentence, the man outlined that because the newlyweds would then not be in a real relationship, they would each be free to date others and bring them back home. According to his plan, they would then be able to buy a Build-To-Order (BTO) flat. Once the HDB’s Minimum Occupation Period (MOP) was over, he then wrote that they would sell the flat, split the proceeds equally and file for divorce.
“Would this be legal? Would it be realistic to be able to find a girl who be willing to hop into this ‘investment’ plan as well?” the man asked.
He added that he had come up with this plan as he could not stand living with his family and wanted to move out as soon as possible. However, he was below the minimum age required to purchase a BTO flat on his own.
Here are all the holes netizens found in his plan:
The girlfriend, tired of him always saying that he wanted them to break up, wrote in an anonymous post on popular confessions page NUSWhispers on March 9, that despite the odds, she wanted a future with him. However, she added that her boyfriend would always criticise her, telling her that she was easily influenced by her friends and social media.
“He always calls me toxic. He had hit me before, making me bleed several times by punching me in the lip and the solar plexus. He calls me manipulative. I always try and go out of my way to communicate to him and meet him even though he blocks me everywhere,” she wrote.
She explained that he would give her the cold shoulder and ignore her, which would stress her out as she would not have any way of contacting him. She added that she felt very tired in the relationship but was not able to leave her boyfriend as she claimed to still love him and care for him. /TISG
