Singapore — Several low-income families at Kaki Bukit who were under quarantine faced an emergency when they found that their food supplies were running low.
Fortunately, when they reached out to their Member of Parliament, the Workers’ Party’s Muhamad Faisal Bin Abdul Manap, emergency aid was quickly given.
A phone call was made to the families to determine what they needed.
On the Aljunied GRC Facebook account on Sunday (Oct 10), a post said that on the day before, emergency food boxes with supplies for several days were given to “stranded needy KB families.”
“With no one to turn to as food supplies dry up, low income families on QO in Kaki Bukit reached out to their MP for help.
Grocery supplies including chicken, eggs, veggies, rice, oil, coffee, etc, enough for several days, were promptly delivered by MP Faisal’s team,” the post read.
The delivery was a contactless one, and pictures of the food boxes outside the beneficiaries’ doors were included in the post.
Three generations were living inside a two-room rental unit, comprised of seven people, which included three young children.
The post ended with “Our best wishes to those on QO, our prayers are with you.”
Many netizens praised the WP for extending aid during the families’ time of need.
Some generous people left comments on the Workers’ Party Facebook page asking if they can also help out.
Others predicted that the good that the party is doing now will pay off in the future.
