If there is one thing that Singaporeans dislike, it is being asked if they are locals or foreigners. A video of a volunteer from the People’s Action Party (PAP) being chased off by a resident after asking if he was a local or foreigner has been making its way round the internet again, much to the chagrin of many Singapoean netizens.

The video, first shared in September 8, 2015 by Mohamed Ali was re-circulated today on Facebook page ‘All Singapore Stuff’.

In the video, a PAP volunteer speaks to a resident, “I just want to ask how long you all have been staying here”.

However, the man is not having any of it and retorts, “You all PAP have made it such that you have to ask whether we are Singaporean or foreigners”.

He continues and points to a neighbouring flat, “There. Opposite got foreigners, go and ask them for your work. This one (pointing to a flyer) I don’t want”.

The man tells the volunteer off, as she stands there speechless, “Don’t knock my house. There got foreigner, go and knock there”.

Many other netizens and supporters of opposition parties commented on the video agreeing that being asked if they were Singaporean or foreigner was offensive to them.
