Singapore – On March 19 (Tuesday), video footage showing a leak in the tunnel on the Marina Coastal Expressway (MCE) was uploaded to Singapore Taxi Driver’s Facebook group.

The footage showed a passenger in a taxi capturing the leak as motorcycle riders were taking shelter from the rain.

The passenger rolled up his window just in time to stop the water pouring in, which would have been enough to drench the entire taxi. “Pipe burst, pipe burst,” commented the taxi driver.

The passenger commented on how dangerous the current status of the expressway was.

The caption of the post stated that traffic was building up in the area. Motorists were advised to avoid the East Coast Parkway (ECP) going toward MCE.

Facebook page Black Dot Research – FactCheck noted that the source of the water leak was still unclear, it could either be sea water or a burst pipe.

They highlighted that the MCE had already experienced two similar instances in the past relating to a burst pipe and issues with the sprinkler systems. “There has not been any issue of a structural defect in the MCE leading to seawater leaking,” said the post.
