A taxi passenger took to social media to warn others of some drivers who take the long route to increase the total fare after he personally experienced a driver who assumed he was drunk and didn’t suspect anything.

“ComfortDelGro taxi uncle thought I was drunk, flag a cab from Boat Quay to Choa Chu Kang,” wrote a Facebook page Complaint Singapore member on Thursday (Sept 22).

The passenger attached a video of himself confronting the uncle about their route.

The passenger said that he ended up taking a ride around the west area, “Jurong West to Lakeside to Bukit Batok West.”

“With third party booking (at) least you would have a fixed price. Flag a cab at your own risk if you drink too much,” the passenger warned.

Members from the online community commended the original poster for highlighting the issue that others have experienced.

One Angela JJ shared what happened just recently.

“Hope that Comfort Del Gro or LTA (Land Transport Authority) can take some action. No integrity at all!” said Facebook user Nana Toh.

“Must report this type of dishonest cab driver,” added another netizen.

“Report to LTA this type of taxi driver. Old already still want to cheat people like your own son is going home how you feel. Make sure his taxi license kena revoked, so make sure another taxi driver doesn’t follow this type of driver attitude playing tricks on passenger,” said Facebook user Vande Der Singhkool.

Facebook user Ahmad Zaki advised others to ask for receipts and then make a complaint to LTA, bringing along the receipts as evidence.

“When taking long routes, always confirm the route with your driver first,” reminded another netizen.

The Independent Singapore has reached out to Comfort Del Gro for a statement and will update the article accordingly. /TISG
