72-year-old man lives in a hawker centre and only eats one meal a day of S$1 porridge
Singapore ― A 72-year-old man living in a hawker centre only eats one meal a day – a bowl of S$1 porridge.
As part of activist Gilbert Goh’s initiative to help displace elderly Singaporeans, the elderly man was given S$50 to tide him over.
In a Facebook post on Sunday (Sept 26), the money the elderly man was given is part of the $100 homeless support scheme he will be given over a one-year period.
Mr Goh wrote that, when speaking to the man, said that he sleeps on a bench together with others who also take shelter there in the night. “He is rather unclear on how he ends up in the street at his advanced age”, Mr Goh wrote. The man also said that someone in his fifties passed away two months ago at about the same spot where he sleeps.

Singapore ― A couple with a four-month-old baby hired a domestic helper to take care of their child and spent over S$3,000 on agency fees. They soon discovered that their hired help was also carrying a child.
Earlier this month, the helper left the house at 11 am, informing her employers that she would visit a dentist for her toothache.
After returning at 5 pm, she told the couple that her dental bill was S$200, although didn’t have a corresponding receipt.
Wanting to help, the couple called the dental clinic to confirm and discovered that the helper made no appointment.
