S’pore removed from EU’s list of countries for lifting travel curbs: what went wrong?

 

Singapore — The European Union’s decision to remove Singapore from its Safe List of countries whose residents can enter for non-essential travel has prompted people here to wonder what had gone wrong, given the Republic’s high vaccination rate.

Singapore was added to the list at the end of August and had stayed on it after the previous assessment last month.

Ang Moh teen probed after flinging signage at child standing outside temple in Keong Saik

 

Singapore — After a teen from a group flung a ‘Wet floor’ sign at a child standing nearby on Tuesday (Nov 9), the four teenagers were called in for an investigation by the police for public nuisance and dishonest misappropriation of property.

The video, posted to the popular Facebook page Wake Up, Singapore, showed the child and presumably her mother standing outside the Sri Layan Sithi Vinayagar Temple at around 8:30 pm along Keong Saik Road. Out of the group of four, one clad in black hit a ‘Wet floor’ sign that was placed outside the temple directly at the child. The teen then dashed away.

Xiaxue goes to London courtesy of Kim Lim for luxury shopping and expensive dinner

London — It’s no secret that Singaporean influencer Xiaxue is friends with Kim Lim, daughter of billionaire Peter Lim. You can sure tell from that, Xiaxue has friends in high places. And the best thing about it is, Lim is extremely generous when it comes to her friends.

Recently, the socialite and entrepreneur paid for a trip for Xiaxue to go to London. It is believed that some of their friends joined them as well. Lim flew to London with a private jet while Xiaxue and the others took Singapore Airlines.

Despite a high vaccination rate, several inmates have caught Covid-19 and more cases are ‘likely’

Singapore —  Nine out of 10 inmates of Changi Prison have been fully vaccinated and 97 per cent have received at least one jab, the Singapore Prison Service  (SPS) said when it revealed that “several” inmates and staff have tested positive for Covid-19.

Despite these high vaccination numbers, SPS said on Tuesday night (Nov 9) that it is likely more will be found to be infected.

Bus captain stops bus at Orchard turn, pleads with passenger to stop talking on her phone

Singapore — A bus captain was on camera pleading with a passenger to stop talking on her phone.

On Wednesday (Nov 10), Facebook page Singapore Bus Drivers Community shared a video of the incident, with the caption, “Bus driver stops bus at Orchard Turn to tell woman to stop talking on her phone as bus driver mentioned that he had reminded passenger about it several times.”
