Twitter user Purgat0ry shared two videos which showed the police confronting a man holding a knife, and the other showing the man on the ground. He claimed the incident happened 2 days ago, that the man was high on drugs and was randomly slashing people with the knife when the Police confronted him. The video showed the man refusing to throw the knife when asked to do so.

It was reported that in 2015, the Police had similarly tasered a 54-year-old man in Toa Payoh after he refused to drop a 30-cm knife and threatened to turn it on himself. The man had been drinking at the coffeeshop before the incident.
