Imagine the surprise of an animal rescuer checking up on a previously adopted dog’s condition only to discover that it was made into stew.

The animal rescuer was assured that the adopter loved dogs. Little did she know that this extended to a specific palate.

On Aug 4, Facebook user May CCus asked members of the public to boycott a soya beans stall in Taman Connaught as he allegedly killed a puppy to eat.

Ms May told Malaysian news portal World of Buzz that she helps rehome dogs at a Shell petrol station.

However, she began walking around to find potential homes when the MCO (movement control order) was imposed.

She said in a post on Jan 14, 2021, that a puppy she had rescued was handed over to Mr Lee, who “loves animals but was too shy to take a photo.”

During a recent follow-up on the puppy’s condition, Ms May was dismayed to hear what happened.

“He confessed to me it tasted so nice to stew and eat and asked me he wants some more,” she said.

“He even told me it’s tender and was killed by his uncle, which they both enjoy dog meat.”

In a video of her confronting the man, Ms May asked why he didn’t return the dog to her. “You gave me the dog; what I want to do with the dog is my business,” he replied.

Ms May has since called for justice on the incident. Although netizens advised her to file a police report, she noted that she lacked evidence for further investigation.

“I ask police already, they say no evidence. That’s why I viral hope this video confession can bring him to jail by our weak animal law system,” she said in a comment.

She also said she couldn’t understand how some adopters would give sweet promises during the application but would feel “a burden” after some time when the animal is no longer cute.

“Some just abandon or throw away, no more updates to me. This is the worst case. This satan confessed to me many times that he and his uncle slaughtered and enjoyed the meat.”
