MHA: TikTok accounts flagged, but no hostile information campaign found in S’pore
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has flagged TikTok to review multiple accounts that appear to be inauthentic, even as it said it has not detected a coordinated hostile information campaign against Singapore to sway public opinion on Russia`s invasion of Ukraine.
Responding to queries from The Straits Times (ST), MHA said on March 25 that it has noticed accounts that “repeatedly (voice) opinions to convey a misleading impression of widespread local opposition to the Government`s position”, referring to comments that have surfaced on TikTok condemning Singapore`s sanctions against Russia.
Runner Soh Rui Yong loses appeal in defamation lawsuit, to pay Ashley Liew additional S$143,000 in costs
Singapore marathoner Soh Rui Yong lost his appeal against the decision to award his former teammate Ashley Liew S$180,000 in damages in a High Court on Monday (Mar 28).
Justice Valerie Thean also ordered Soh, 30, a two-time Southeast Asian (SEA) Games gold medallist, to pay S$18,000 in costs for the appeal hearing. This comes in addition to about S$125,000 in costs and fees that Mr Soh was ordered to pay in February this year for the district court trial.
