Girlfriend upset & angry with boyfriend who keeps having 1-on-1 outings with other female friends, says he should be with her instead

A 28-year-old girlfriend took to social media to talk about how controlling she is when it came to her 30-year-old boyfriend.

In an anonymous post on popular confessions page SGWhispers, the girlfriend wrote that she had been with her boyfriend for a year and was very sure that he was the one for her. However, she added that they recently had an argument and decided to take a break from each other. When they came together and had a talk, they both agreed that she was too controlling.

“I get upset and angry if he keeps in contact with his female friends & goes out with them 1 on 1. It came to a point where everytime he tells me he is going out with a friend, I’ll always ask about the gender”, the girlfriend wrote. She also added that if her boyfriend had any free time, she wanted him to spend it with her as “I want him all to myself”.

She agreed that her behaviour was toxic and added that she was working on it.

“I’m posting this because some days I struggle with improving myself and working on myself and some days I find it easy. I would like to say that – For couples that are struggling with this, be patient with one another. Change is not easy & it really takes time. Help one another out & talk it out. Take a break from each other to think through things if needed. Some days are harder than the others but as long as we are trying, it gets easier”.

In her post, the girlfriend advised those who were struggling with control issues like hers or other relationship issues to take a step back and question why they were feeling those emotions.

Netizens who commented on the post were supportive of her and even gave her suggestions to help her change.
