Singapore — Most Singaporeans are familiar with the name Benjamin Kheng. The 31-year-old is a musician, actor, presenter, writer and former national swimmer.

Recently, Kheng uploaded a cover on his social media. He did a one-man choir of the song Maybe The Night by Filipino folk pop/pop rock band Ben&Ben. As of writing, Kheng’s post garnered 3.1K shares on Facebook, 870 comments and 31K likes. Yesterday morning, Kheng posted an update, asking what songs would his followers want him to make a cover of.

Kheng wrote in a caption, “in the mood for a Ben&Ben cover today which song should [I] do?”

Based on the comments, Maybe The Night seems to be a fan favourite. According to Her World, Kheng debuted his music career in 2012 as part of Singaporean indie pop band The Sam Willows, together with his sister Narelle, Sandra Riley Tang and Jonathan Chua. The Sam Willows gained millions of streams, headlined concerts and music festivals with two albums and one extended play under their belt.

In 2019 the band went on an indefinite hiatus so the former swimmer went on to build his solo career with the debut album A Sea That Never Stops (2019), and the single Fresh Feelings that dropped earlier this year.

Inspired by the love of mixed rice that is quintessentially Singaporean, Kheng and Annette Lee, 29, have come up with Mandarin pop song ‘The Caifan Song’. On Sept 17, the duo released ‘The Caifan Song’ as part of their ongoing The Ann & Ben show.

According to 8Days.sg, The Ann & Ben Show features the pair singing their heart out in music videos that parody life in Singapore.

The lyrics goes like this: “Uncle, I really love you, because your cai fan is both delicious and cheap, but uncle, I have to admit, ordering food from you is more stressful than taking an exam”.
