Free food is always a welcome treat, especially if it’s from Old Chang Kee.

One Choa Chu Kang resident woke up to exactly this, and found his Member of Parliament, Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, handing out treats from an OCK food truck.

He documented this in a Sept 18 TikTok that has since gone viral, with the video showing Mr Zhulkarnain giving residents, including a TikToker who goes by @jayrzzz.cyril some goodies, as well as waving to other residents presumably on the upper floors.

The TikToker explained at the beginning of the video that his sister had woken him up “thinking” whatever was going on “was some emergency.”

Looking out the window, he saw an Old Chang Kee van.

And when he went down to the ground floor, he found out he would be receiving free breakfast.

“Thank you MP Zhulkarnain,” he wrote.

At one point, the MP can be seen waving to someone, and the TikToker wrote that it was his father Mr Zhulkarnain was greeting.

The TikToker and his sister ended up with a curry puff, chicken nuggets and hotdogs.

Mr Zhulkarnain’s treat to the Choa Chu Kang residents caused commenters on TikTok to call for other MPs to “step up their game.”

The MP’s act of goodwill prompted some netizens to ask if elections are coming around again soon.

And when other commenters asked why they don’t have the same kind of treat, the TikToker wrote, “Must call out to all MPs alr.”

He had other good things to say about Mr Zhulkarnain, whom he wrote has visited their block several times already.

Other netizens started tagging or calling out to their MPs in the hopes that they would do the same.
