Netizens took to Facebook to mock UOB, not for the launch of their new exclusive diamond-studded credit card, but for the poor grammar on the credit card frame that came with said card.
In a post shared by Facebook user Mick Price, he said, UOB Bank just launched this diamond-studded credit card yesterday for those who charge more than S$1million annually. It is presented to the customer in the form of a plaque. They should have employed a better copywriter to “extinguish” themselves from the competition!”
His post made reference to the wording on the frame that the card came encased in, which read, “For those who value exclusivity in it’s most extinguished form”.
There were two grammatical errors in that sentence, which netizens were not at all hesitant to point out.
The first, the word ‘it’s’, which means ‘it is’, should have been replaced with ‘its’.
The second, the word ‘extinguished’, which should have read ‘distinguished’.
The hilarity ensued with netizens pondering over why UOB did not invest in a better copywriter.
