TISG was hacked – we have beefed up security to serve you better

Dear readers
If you were wondering why yesterday and today were slow news days at The Independent Singapore (TISG), it is because we were hacked. The hacks were massive, but our technical team partially restored the website after several hours yesterday. This morning (24 June) however, we were hacked again.
After working to fix the hack for almost 12 hours, our technical team has again restored the website. As far as we can tell, no data was stolen by the hackers. But all our apps are down. Our technicians have beefed up security to the website and will continue working to make the website fully functional once again.
We understand that not only our website, but another widely read website too was affected by a similar hack yesterday. I guess, the hackers target websites with a high number of unique visitors.
Thank you for staying with us, and please bear with us if the website loads a little slower in the next few days. We promise to upgrade our servers and security for our readers.
Thank you.
