Singapore — Many netizens voiced out their relief in reaction to the news that Ms Iris Koh, the leader and founder of Healing the Divide, had been arrested in connection to allegedly falsified vaccination records.
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Sunday (Jan 23) that it was also investigating Wan Medical Clinic, which is said to have partnered with Ms Koh in offering “remote” Antigen Rapid Test (ART) Pre-Event Testing for its members.
Dr Jipson Quah, a registered medical practitioner at the clinic, was “also found to have allegedly falsified vaccination records.” He is being referred to the Singapore Medical Council for further investigations.
He and one of his assistants at the clinic were arrested along with Ms Koh. The four clinics that Dr Quah manages will be given notices of the intention of suspension by MOH and ART approvals for these clinics will be revoked.
The MOH first called out ‘Healing the Divide’ early in November 2021 for falsehoods regarding Covid-19. The Ministry said the group “adopts an anti-vaccination stance and claims to warn people about the dangers of vaccination.”
On Nov 24, the police said in a media statement that a couple, later reported to be Ms Koh and her husband, Mr Raymond Ng, were under investigation for allegedly encouraging people to overwhelm public hotlines with feedback amid the ongoing Covid pandemic, including one belonging to the MOH.
Ms Koh was slapped with a charge of criminal conspiracy to cheat on Sunday (Jan 23), while Dr Quah and his assistant were charged on Jan 21 for abetment by conspiracy to cheat.
People convicted of the charges above may end up with a maximum jail sentence of three years, be made to pay a fine, or both.
While Ms Koh and her group have had some support for their efforts, many netizens appeared fed up with their antics and expressed relief that she has been arrested.
Some called her “irresponsible and selfish.”
Another called her “delusional.”
Commenters also found the name of the group to be illogical, as it creates more of a divide in society.
A number of netizens called for the “maximum possible sentence permissible under the law…”
Many seem to believe Ms Koh crossed a line with the issue of falsifying vaccine records.
And with regard to Dr Quah, some seemed shocked that he would jeopardize his medical career.
