Story of a Malaysian grand mother driving a Grab goes viral in Indonesia

A grandmother from Labuan has resorted to driving Grab to feed her family.

Misnah (60) said she is driving a Grab taxi to feed her family.

Her husband is suffering from cancer, while her eldest child has special needs and is suffering from a mental disorder.

The story was first shared by Fedtri Yahya through his Facebook page and it then went viral in Malaysia. Now, Indonesian portals are starting to share the story.
It began with Fedtri ordering a taxi through the Grab app to travel to Labuan, the Offshore capital of Malaysia. Along the way, he chatted with Misnah.

In his post, Fedtri said when he chatted with Misnah the elderly woman was very calm and polite.

“This story is in Labuan. The Grab driver is in her 60s. The husband has colon cancer and glaucoma. The eldest son OKU (mental). Subhanallah she is a woman facing a tough test. But she is very calm and orderly,” Fedtri wrote.

Although she was more than half a century old, Mishnah does not want to beg. Begging she says is strictly forbidden in her book.

She prefers to fight for the family, rather than living on the mercy of others.

Misnah does not deny she feels tired and sometimes stressed.

Malaysia is currently allowing more ride-hailing services in the country.

It is trying to bring Gojek, the motorbike hailing service while it has a diversified car-hailing services industry.

The idea is to allow more people to get additional income, says the government. -/TISG
