The complete 2019 Singapore Michelin Star list for Singaporean restaurants was revealed during the Michelin Guide gala dinner at the Grand Ballroom of Capella Singapore on September 17.
The final count of Singaporean restaurants and eateries that earned stars were 44 and 58 respectively, and Singapore is now the proud home to two three Michelin-star establishments, French restaurants Le Mis and Odette.
At the gala dinner, the launch of the Michelin Guide Singapore 2019, now in its fourth edition, was also celebrated.
The city-state lost its only three Michelin-star establishment, Joel Robuchon Restaurant, when it closed in 2018.
The pressure was on the Le Mis and Odette to retain their two Michelin-star status or to surpass it.
Odette recently placed 18th in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants awards, held for the first time in Singapore in June of this year.
This year, 44 restaurants received Michelin stars, an increase from the 39 restaurants that made it in 2018.
French contemporary restaurant Saint Pierre gained one more star, moving up to the two Michelin-star category along with Scandinavian restaurant Zen.
Michelin’s Bib Gourmand awards were also revealed that night, and a total of 58 eateries made the honoured list.
The Bib Gourmand category was first created in 1997 to celebrate food eateries that provide great quality and value-for-money meals for under S$45.
Of the 58 entries that made the list this year, 33 are hawker stalls, along with six street food establishments and 19 restaurants. Last year, only 50 entries were selected for the Bib Gourmand category.
