Major social media services including Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were hit by a massive outage on Monday, tracking sites showed, impacting potentially tens of millions of users.

Outage tracker Downdetector was showing outages in heavily populated areas like Washington and Paris.

The 57-year-old took to LinkedIn to introduce his baby daughter Aliyah Ena to the world. The airline entrepreneur said that the birth of his daughter is one of the highlights this year amidst the challenges and struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Singapore ruling party defends ‘foreign interference’ bill

Singapore’s ruling party late Monday passed a law aimed at preventing foreign interference in domestic politics, which the opposition and activists have criticised as a tool to crush dissent.

The law, approved after a marathon session that stretched to near midnight, would allow authorities to compel internet service providers and social media platforms to provide user information, block content and remove applications used to spread content they deem hostile.

How many retired officers have top civil service roles: MP Gerald Giam asks Parliament

Singapore ― Parliamentarian Gerald Giam has asked how many retired officers with the rank of colonel and above have held senior positions in public sector organisations following concerns raised over the decision-making process.

A retired Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) brigadier-general was recently appointed to head the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA). This raised concerns about the decision process for selecting senior SAF officers for key leadership positions in the civil service, said Mr Giam (Workers’ Party – Aljunied GRC) on Facebook on Saturday (Oct 2).

K Shanmugam presses Raeesah Khan for details on her allegations of police mishandling sexual assault case, latter declines four times

Singapore ― The police will be interviewing Workers’ Party (WP) MP Raeesah Khan (Sengkang GRC) after her allegations that they mishandled a sexual assault case.

Ms Khan had told the House during a debate on empowering women on Aug 3 that she accompanied a 25-year-old rape victim to a police station to make a police report three years ago. She said that during the interview, the police officer had allegedly made inappropriate comments about the victim’s dressing and the fact that she was drinking.
