Tony Fernandes welcomes newborn daughter

Malaysia ― AirAsia chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes and his wife welcome the arrival of their newborn daughter.

The 57-year-old took to LinkedIn to introduce his baby daughter Aliyah Ena to the world. The airline entrepreneur said that the birth of his daughter is one of the highlights this year amidst the challenges and struggles during the COVID-19 pandemic.

His LinkedIn post reads:

“So here is something to make you smile a bit. Covid has brought many negative surprises but here is a positive one. I’m a father again, I have two most amazing children and now we have a third. Aliyah Ena, welcome to the world. AirAsia is reborn as a digital and lifestyle company and I’m reborn as an old father. But excited for having three wonderful children. I’m blessed. P/s: Notice her smile as dad has comfy belly.”

He also added another photo of Aliyah with the following details:

  • Full name: Aliyah Ena Fernandes
  • Born: 14 August, 2021 – 7:22am
  • 3.16 Kilos

Since the announcement, Tony Fernandes’ post received over 15,000 reactions and 2,000 comments, reported Hype.my.

“Congrats Tony! I’m sure she is the beginning of a new era, just like for AA,” wrote Selvaraj Arivanathan.

Nigel Rosendale, commented that a baby “Certainly keeps older fathers young.”

It has been reported that Tony Fernandes and his former wife have a 27-year-old daughter and a 20-year-old son. Back in Oct 2017, Tony and his Korean beau Chloe got married.

Born Apr 30, 1964, Anthony Francis Fernandes is a Malaysian entrepreneur. He is the founder of Tune Air Sdn. Bhd., who introduced the first budget no-frills airline, AirAsia, to Malaysians with the tagline “Now everyone can fly”.

Fernandes managed to turn AirAsia, a failing government-linked commercial airline, into a highly successful budget airline public-listed company. He has since founded the Tune Group of companies.
