0

Valuechampion mailing list

For the newbie investor, utilising trading platforms may seem pretty daunting. If you are new to trading, here’s a beginner’s guide to investing with trading platforms featuring Webull. Read on also for investing tips and strategies to start your wealth accumulation journey and build a solid investment portfolio.

Types of Trading

It is common for investors to use multiple types of investing strategies to build an investment portfolio or for portfolio diversification. This guide will get you acquainted with three key types of trading that will help you get a headstart on reaching your investment goals. They are also available on trading platforms like Webull Singapore, where you can start investing with zero commission for one month (for new users who sign up and open an account) if you invest in US stocks and ETFs.

Stocks Trading

Stock trading is one of the most common ways for individuals and institutions to invest in financial markets and potentially grow their wealth. When you buy a stock, you are essentially buying ownership of a public-listed company.

The goal of stock trading is to buy stocks with high growth potential for dividend yield or make profits through stock price fluctuations. However, different trading strategies such as long-term trading, day trading, swing trading and high-frequency trading may have a different time horizon and goal.

Options Trading

This is a type of financial derivative trading whereby you are buying the right (but not the obligation) to purchase a stock or an underlying asset at a specified price by a specific time on an exchange.

Options trading may be riskier than stock trading but it offers more flexibility to initiate a buy or sell decision according to where you think the market is heading. You can also use options as a hedging strategy to reduce risk exposure and limit losses when there is a sudden price drop in an asset in your investment portfolio.

Margin and Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) Trading

Margin trading refers to investing in securities such as stocks or ETFs using borrowed funds from brokerages with investment platforms or financial institutions. This strategy helps to expand your investment potential which can lead to much greater returns than using your limited funds.

On the other hand, ETFs trading may offer more peace of mind if you are a low-risk and budget-conscious investor. It is ideal for portfolio diversification since you spread the risk by investing in blue-chip indices instead of buying individual blue-chip stocks. Because ETFs are traded on exchanges and are highly liquid, they are extremely useful for investors who want to profit from quickly moving in or out of a market.

Risks and Benefits of Trading

Before you dabble with different types of trading that may help you grow your wealth and optimise your idle funds, you must be mindful of the potential pitfalls that may negatively impact your portfolio.

Investment of any kind comes with risk of varying degree. Here is an overview of what you need to assess before jumping on the investment bandwagon.

Risks Benefits
Loss of capital – Risk of losing some or all of invested funds due to highly volatile market Potential for growing wealth – Possible to make extensive profits if market conditions work in favour of investor
Market risk – Market prices easily influenced by factors such as economic conditions, geopolitical events and investor sentiment Access to global markets – Online investment trading platforms provide real-time access to global markets to optimise investment potential
Regulatory and legal risks – Regulations in different markets can change unexpectedly to affect the performance of your portfolio Portfolio diversification – Easily diversify investment portfolio by gaining exposure to wide range of asset classes
Leverage risk – Investing with borrowed funds can amplify losses if the market moves unfavourably Income generation – Trading strategies like dividend investing and options selling can support regular income generation
Liquidity risk – Some assets have low trading volumes, hence making it difficult to buy or sell in a timely manner Flexibility – Wide range of investment products, extensive market access and long trading hours to suit different trading goals and preferences

What To Look For In An Online Trading Platform

Investing with trading platforms that complement your investing strategies can make your experience more rewarding. If you are in the midst of selecting the right investment platform, there are seven factors you must take note of.

Trading Fees

Pay attention to trading commissions, fees and any additional costs that may affect your overall cost of trading. Always look for platforms, like Webull, that offer transparent fees structure.

Ease of Diversification

An efficient investment platform should allow investors to spread their funds across multiple deals, risk-bands and geographies. These traits are essential for portfolio diversification.

Smart Portfolios

Trading platforms that have a decent range of investment products and market accesses can offer more growth potential than one with limited choices. More product choices also allow investors to diversify their trading risks.

For example, Webull’s Regular Savings Plan is a convenient service for investors to stay invested with minimum effort. You just need to decide the investment amount, the frequency and when to start, and the platform will use a dollar-cost averaging strategy to create a diversified portfolio accordingly.

User-Friendly Interface

The platform should be intuitive and easy to navigate. A platform with a sloppy user-interface can impede your trading experience and even increase the risk of making trading mistakes.

News and Analyses

Look for platforms that offer robust research tools such as real-time charts, watchlist, technical and fundamental analysis, news feeds and screeners. These features can help you make more informed decisions.

For example, trading platforms should be equipped with common technical analysis tools like Line, Bar, and Candlesticks to guide your trading. The Line charts offer an overall view of price action and analysing economic indicators while the Bar charts show you the price range, opening price and closing price for a specific period. Candlestick charts highlight four price points – open and close in the thick body, and high and low in the “candle wick”. It is useful for predicting price movement based on past patterns.

Extended Trading Hours

Platforms that offer pre-market and after-hours trading can provide investors with many unique opportunities. Trading with one that has extended trading hours can let you take advantage of those opportunities.

Accessible on Both Mobile and Desktop

This is a must-have feature to meet the needs of modern-day investors who want to trade anytime, anywhere. Efficient trading platforms like Webull Singapore will always offer both mobile and desktop interfaces to suit investors’ needs.

New self-service clinics allow patients to register for medical treatment and receive prescription drugs

SINGAPORE: The medical landscape in Singapore is adapting to a shortage of manpower as innovative self-service clinics gain traction across the city-state. These doctor-free clinics enable patients to register for online consultations and empower them to obtain prescription drugs and, in some instances, receive vaccinations and physical examinations.

Patients entering these clinics follow a streamlined process—after payment, they proceed to the consultation cabin, register with their ID card, and engage in online consultations. Utilizing provided instruments such as blood pressure monitors, thermometers, and weight scales, patients measure vital signs as per the doctor’s guidance.

Upon completion of the consultation, patients can swiftly collect prescription medicines outside the cabin, with the added convenience of 24/7 access to over-the-counter medications. This entire process takes a mere 10 to 15 minutes, costing approximately half of a traditional manned clinic visit.

One example is a self-service clinic in Jalan Besar, a collaboration between a technology company and a medical group. Housing two resident doctors offering remote consultations, the clinic has witnessed a steady influx of patients seeking medical advice or purchasing medicine. With a roster of eight doctors on call, the clinic aims to save time for patients, including travel time, achieving a two to threefold reduction in the time spent on medical consultations.

The company is in discussions with countries such as Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, and potential Middle Eastern partners to expand the system globally.

In Tanjong Pagar, a doctor-free clinic originally focused on sexual health self-testing services has broadened its offerings. Situated in a shopping mall, the clinic now provides vaccinations and health examinations to the public.

Staffed by trained professionals and a phlebotomist, this clinic caters to office workers in the city centre. Patients familiar with the procedures do not require a doctor’s presence. The clinic has serviced over 200 patients since the beginning of the year, with 30 per cent opting for vaccinations and the remainder undergoing tests for STDs.

As Singapore pioneers these doctor-free clinics, the evolving landscape reflects a novel approach to healthcare delivery, addressing manpower shortage challenges while offering convenience and efficiency to patients.

Over 50% Singaporeans believe their income is not enough to cope with inflation

0

SINGAPORE: An annual survey conducted by Channel 8, which interviewed 1,000 Singaporeans and permanent residents on the top ten livelihood topics, indicates a growing unease about the impact of inflation on personal finances.

Only 48 per cent of respondents expressed confidence that their current income is sufficient to cope with inflation, marking a decrease from the previous year. 52 per cent believed their income falls short of meeting the challenges posed by inflation.

An overwhelming 96 per cent of respondents said they anticipate an increase in the cost of living in the coming year, indicating a widespread perception of financial strain in the foreseeable future.

Despite concerns, 63% of respondents said they believe government assistance packages could alleviate their financial burdens. Notably, those in one- and two-room HDB flats (73 per cent) show a higher confidence in the effectiveness of government measures. This sentiment extended to 66 per cent of respondents in five-room HDB flats, while 46.4 per cent of those in private residences shared a similar belief—a notable increase from the previous year.

In contrast, only 47 per cent of respondents said that the government has done enough to combat the rising cost of living. More than half expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s efforts to address this pressing issue.

There is a noticeable discrepancy in approval rates based on monthly household income. While 49.4 per cent of respondents with incomes below $4,000 expressed satisfaction with government measures, this figure dropped to 47.7 per cent for those earning between $4,000 and $7,999.

Surprisingly, respondents with a monthly household income between $12,000 and $19,999 displayed the highest discontent, with 55.3% feeling that the government was not doing enough—an increase of 10.3% from the previous year.

Public advised to throw away expired medicines and return certain drugs to hospitals

SINGAPORE: National Universities Healthcare Group (NUHS), National Healthcare Group (NHG) and Singapore Health Services Group (SingHealth) have all advised that the public should discard expired medicines and that certain medicines, such as antibiotics, anti-cancer drugs and drugs that may be abused, should be returned to hospitals for disposal.

The healthcare groups issued this advisory in response to questions submitted to Lianhe Zaobao on whether expired medication can be consumed, recycled or disposed of. Emphasizing the importance of disposal, the healthcare groups highlighted the unique conditions of patients, cautioning against sharing prescription drugs even for similar symptoms.

Certain drugs, such as anti-cancer drugs, antibiotics, and controlled substances like Morphine and Fentanyl, should not be disposed of at home, according to a pharmacist at National University Hospital.

For drugs suitable for home disposal, the public is encouraged to seal and discard them in the trash, concealing personal information. Unusable medications should be returned to pharmacies, where National Environment Agency approved vendors will handle proper disposal.

To minimize risks of accidental ingestion, the chief pharmacist of SingHealth suggested dissolving harmless oral drugs in water, mixing them with garbage and detergent, and sealing them in bags before disposal. Additional precautions include folding skin patches and dividing the disposal of liquid medicines over several days or using materials like newspapers to absorb the medicines to prevent risk and misuse.

To address drug waste, major medical clusters are implementing measures, such as encouraging patients to record medication quantity and expiration dates. Pharmacists guide patients on using drugs with shorter validity first and advise against over-purchasing to reduce potential wastage.

National University Hospital reported a 30% per cent reduction in expired drugs through regular reviews and adjustments. Patients are encouraged to inform doctors during follow-ups, reducing medication stockpiles.

While local data on drug wastage is lacking, estimates suggest high costs, with a former Pharmacists Association president citing outpatient drug waste as potentially reaching over half a million in 2019.

Family clinics, facing high medication diversity and potential waste, are adopting centralized medication delivery services. In collaboration with Wellaway online pharmacy, one clinic reduces costs and waste by allowing online delivery of less common drugs.

Wellaway, Singapore Health Sciences Authority-approved, collaborates with 410 institutions, offering online orders for 1,600 drugs. Processing over 200 orders daily, the company fulfils doctors’ prescriptions and contributes to reducing medication waste. It has fulfilled over 100,000 orders since its inception.

As healthcare groups and institutions actively advocate proper disposal and implement strategies to minimize waste, collaboration with innovative services like Wellaway marks a step towards a more efficient and sustainable healthcare system in Singapore.

Immigration controls, job protection, and national identity

0

Immigration

The debate surrounding immigration policies swirls with keen arguments about job protection and national identity. Do strict controls on immigration truly safeguard jobs and uphold a nation’s identity, or do they hinder progress and stifle the richness of cultural diversity?

The perennial conundrum is the perceived trade-off between economic security and cultural cohesion against the fear of losing opportunities and vitality on the other.

Pros and Cons of Immigration Controls

Advocates for strict immigration controls often contend that stringent measures safeguard jobs for citizens by reducing competition in the labor market. They assert that controlling the influx of foreign workers is a vital step to preserving the identity and cohesion of a nation and protecting cultural heritage and tradition.

However, strict immigration policies, while intending to fortify job opportunities for citizens, can inadvertently impede economic growth. Research suggests that immigrant labor often complements, rather than competes with, native workers.

Many immigrants fill crucial gaps in the labor market, taking on roles that might otherwise remain vacant. They contribute their skills and expertise to sectors that face shortages.

The true essence of a nation’s identity lies in its ability to adapt, evolve, and embrace the amalgamation of cultures. It is in this mosaic that the richness of human experience and the resilience of society find their strength.

Regulation vs. Openness

Instead of erecting walls, societies can strive to build bridges, fostering inclusive policies that acknowledge both the need for regulation and the benefits of diversity.

The question of whether strict immigration controls protect jobs and national identity doesn’t have a clear-cut answer. While protectionism is a secure fortress, it also inadvertently impedes progress.

The true safeguarding of jobs and the preservation of national identity does not lie in rigid control, but in the adept navigation of global migration, where unity and diversity coexist harmoniously.

Black TikToker claiming Statue of Liberty was supposed to be of a Black woman not White

0

Statue of Liberty

It is unclear if the video was made out of satirical intentions, but it is surely upsetting a significant number of conservatives on X. Furthermore, X users are saying that the Black TikToker needs to be educated on this situation further. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to America in the late 1800s.

According to the National Park Service, despite their exclusion from the statue’s conception, Black Americans fundraised for its pedestal and joined public celebrations at its dedication. However, the Statue of Liberty has held dual symbolism for Black Americans, representing both hope and America’s civil rights failure. This ambiguity sparked varied artistic expressions, political debates, and even violent protests.

The Immigration Museum’s construction, debated for seventeen years, further tackled the portrayal of enslaved African Americans as “immigrants.” The myth of Liberty’s original model as a Black woman lacks evidence, dissociating it from Bartholdi and Laboulaye’s anti-slavery vision. The statue’s tribute to the Civil War’s end of slavery intertwined with Laboulaye’s broader idea of liberty’s realization in history.

Black TikToker says Statue of Liberty was supposed to be a Black woman

X users are reacting to this situation by stating the woke education is failing Americans. They feel that proper history lessons are important to preserve our culture. Following that, the ultra liberal ideologies are meant to rewrite history in order to make it more inclusive. However, there are a number of powerful and remarkable Black Americans in history that deserve more limelight.

In addition to this, X users are sharing several offensive opinions regarding the situation. They state that they’re refusing to be blackwashed by “historians.” Furthermore, others claim that the TikToker is delusional for thinking that. A simple Google search will show the exact origins of the Statue of Liberty.

Others state that the statue was initially made of copper that would eventually turn green in order to represent everyone. Regardless, the Blackwashing of certain historical monuments in America is having an increase due to the rise of ultra liberalism.

How wealth gap, educational challenges shape the US political landscape

0

wealth gap

The political landscape in the United States finds itself under the looming shadows of these interconnected challenges — widening wealth gap and persistent issues in the education system.

These societal issues not only shape the current narrative but also hold the potential to sway the outcomes of the upcoming elections, as voters grapple with the stark realities of an evolving socio-economic landscape.

The widening wealth gap

Today, over 50% of the population relies on each paycheck and so many experiencing homelessness. In the wealth gap, millions are grappling with the fear of eviction, and families nationwide are anxious about their children having enough to eat.

The chasm between the wealthiest and the rest of society has grown to unprecedented proportions, fostering an environment of economic inequality that fuels discontent among the electorate. The 2024 elections may well become a battleground for candidates offering solutions to bridge this divide.

 Education as the great equalizer

Persistent challenges in the education system, from disparities toward quality education to the rising burden of student debt, threaten to undermine this ideal. The electorate in 2024 is likely to scrutinize candidates’ proposals for educational reform, seeking solutions that address the root causes of inequality in the education sector and ensure that all citizens have equal opportunities to succeed.

Interwoven narratives

As candidates vie for votes in 2024, the most compelling narratives will be those that recognize the interconnected nature of these differing challenges and present genuine, clear-cut, and holistic solutions that address the root causes.

The 2024 elections

The candidates who navigate these challenges with empathy, understanding, and comprehensive policy proposals are likely to capture the hearts and votes of a citizenry hungry for positive change. The 2024 elections are not just a political contest; they are a referendum on the nation’s commitment to equality, economic justice, and the promise of a better future for all.

Actor Taylor Lautner, once rumoured to be the subject of Taylor Swift’s song “Back to December,” maintains a positive view of his past relationship with the singer. Lautner has glowing remarks for Swift and is also appreciative of the support of her fans. He appreciates being regarded as Swift’s “best ex” by fans, considering it a compliment.

The two met while filming “Valentine’s Day” in 2010, briefly dated, and have since moved on. Lautner, celebrating one year of marriage with his wife (also named Taylor), jokes about being the only ex without a song dissing him and sees Swift as a friend. Lautner’s wife is also a ‘diehard Swiftie’ according to him.

Lautner praised Swift

Recently appearing in Swift’s “I Can See You” music video alongside Joey King and Presley Cash, Lautner praised Swift’s character on stage during her concert, emphasizing her kindness and talent. Swift responded by sharing a playful photo of herself and Lautner, spoofing the Spider-Man pointing meme.

His wife echoed Lautner’s sentiments, praising Swift’s talent and kindness, and appreciating her warm welcome into Swift’s circle. Lautner was also spotted in the audience at Swift’s LA show, handing out “Uncle Tay” friendship bracelets to fans.

Unparalleled level of devotion

Reflecting on speaking at Swift’s Kansas City concert, Lautner admitted the experience of facing 75,000 enthusiastic Swifties was surreal and unique compared to his interactions with passionate “Twilight” fans. He acknowledged the unparalleled level of devotion among Swift’s fanbase.

Meanwhile, Swift is on tour in South America and reportedly had a great time in Argentina. Rumors suggest she and Travis Kelce, a Kansas City Chiefs tight end, enjoyed their time together during the tour and plan to spend more time during Swift’s break in December and January. Are satanic clubs available in American schools? X users scared for the future

0

satanic

In the previous decades, talking about satanism or anything of the sort would be highly taboo. However, with the advent of the ultra liberal agenda, everything is welcomed, including teaching kids about satanism. However, most conservatives and centrists are vehemently against this idea.

USAToday states, Lebanon Elementary faces uproar as Salem-based Satanic Temple prepares for a Dec. 1 club launch, independent of the town and district. Despite its name, the club emphasizes non-theistic views, considering Satan a metaphor against tyranny, fostering independent thinking.

However, it focuses on science, community service, puzzles, nature activities, and arts, not religious conversion. Concerns from parents highlight recruitment fears, while advocates express apprehension about the group’s religious semblance. The school maintains First Amendment obligations, allowing diverse viewpoints.

Furthermore, this isn’t the first time the club has faced resistance; previous incidents in Virginia and Pennsylvania involved legal battles over meeting rights and security concerns.

Conservatives rightfully against satanic clubs in schools

For the most part, conservatives are blaming the woke creative industry. A user posted a photo of Sam Smith in his satan costume asking where the kids are getting their inspiration from. Being edgy is one thing, but exploiting children to believe in demonic deities is a whole other level.

Following that, X users state that the teachers endorsing these clubs would look exactly as you’d expect them to look. Others took it upon themselves to describe these individuals by saying that these types of people are plus size, coloured hair and claim that they’re “douchebags.”

Apparently, Texas is currently having a bill passed in relation to the school of choice. The bill encompasses parents who want to opt out of public school and who are interested in homeschooling/private schools will receive funding of some sort. Conservatives are in favor of this idea.
