Singapore — A 20-year-old man who uploaded videos of sexual acts he had with one 19-year-old and another 17-year-old female was given 21 months of probation and 60 hours of community service on Monday (Nov 8).
The man has remained unnamed to protect the identity of his victims.
The full-time national serviceman entered a guilty plea to circulating obscene material, three counts of voyeurism, and one count of insulting the modesty of a woman. An additional eight counts were taken into consideration in his sentencing, Yahoo! News Singapore reports.
His girlfriend, the 19-year-old victim, found the recorded clips on Google Drive and Twitter. She was able to access his accounts since he gave her the log-in details for his accounts.
All in all, there were 23 recorded clips of them performing sexual acts. The NSF did not obtain consent from her to film any of the acts.
She discovered five videos on his Twitter account on Mar 29 of this year, which had been set to private. Nevertheless, between 15 and 22 people had seen the clips through the social media platform.
In addition, her boyfriend had either blindfolded her or kept the camera far from her face when the videos of their sexual acts were taken.
She filed a police report the day after she discovered them.
The clips had been uploaded to his account on Aug 18, 2020.
After initially finding the video clips on Twitter, she found another 18 videos of them having sex from February 2018 to February 2019, as well as five pictures.
She also found an upskirt video of another woman from Jan 2, 2021, among his files.
As for the 17-year-old victim, she was recorded by the man while she was taking a shower on Sept 10, 2020.
He had video-called her while she was in the shower, and without her knowledge, filmed her while they talked while she was showering. The video clip lasted 14 minutes and 33 seconds.
On Sept 19, they went to Hotel Michael and had sex. The NSF filmed their sexual acts, with the girl’s face covered by a blanket. All in all, he recorded four videos of them together.
The nature of their relationship has not been specified.
According to Deputy Public Prosecutor Zhou Yang, the risk factors of the man had been primarily addressed in his report judging the suitability of probation, and that he had done well in his national service.
The man has been required, under the terms of his probation, to stay indoors between 10 pm and 6 am as well as participate in a treatment programme related to his offences.
He is also prohibited from using electronic devices with camera functions unless with additional approval from his probation officer or psychologist.
To ensure that he stays in line, his godmother, and brother have been placed on a bond of $5,000. They have expressed wellness to supervise him. /TISG
