Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has been ranked fourth on the list of the most Instagrammed airports in the world, surpassing Singapore’s famous Changi Airport, which ranks fifth.

According to VnExpress International, a recent study by Singapore-based travel site Miss Tourist revealed that KLIA has gathered over 600,000 hashtags on Instagram, showing its growing popularity among travellers who share their airport experiences online.

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) leads the list as the most Instagrammed airport, with 3.3 million hashtags. San Francisco International Airport follows with 1.04 million hashtags, while London’s Heathrow Airport comes in third with 762,000 hashtags.

The study started with a list of the 50 busiest airports worldwide, focusing on passenger traffic. Researchers then tracked the most-used hashtags for each airport on Instagram to create the top 10 list of the most Instagrammable airports.

Kuala Lumpur International Airport is Malaysia’s busiest, serving the wider metropolitan area.

Changi Airport is known for its state-of-the-art features, including duty-free shopping, an indoor rainforest, and the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. It also uses modern tech such as automated check-ins, biometric systems, and AI-powered luggage handling.
