The police have confirmed that they are looking into the video of the concert of K-pop group TWICE, where a concertgoer can be heard chanting a gang slogan.
While the original video appears to have been taken down, there are copies circulating on social media and on YouTube.
At the concert held on Sunday at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, a voice can be heard chanting “sah lak kau”, meaning ‘3, 6, 9’ in Hokkien, a phrase known to be associated with a gang.
It was reported that the person who tweeted the video was the concertgoer’s brother, who said that the concertgoer did not know the words to the fan cheers and chants.
In his original tweet, he said, “Hahahaha my brother went to the TWICE concert in Singapore but he dk the cheer so listen to what he said instead”.
A police spokesman told the media, “Police are aware of this incident and we are looking into the matter”.
Many fans of the group were riled by the incident.
Anyone who is or who acts as a member of an unlawful society faces a jail term of up to three years, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.
