Indian shipment of ‘terror pills’ for IS seized in Italy

Who is behind the 37 million tramadol pills, worth $75 million that was found packed into three containers at the port of Genoa and labeled as blankets and shampoo?

The Italian police discovered the ship load of tramadol pain killers was destined for Libya’s terrorists – said to give them greater resilience.

The tramadol, used by Boko Haram, the Nigerian terror group, which is said to feed child soldiers dates stuffed with the pain killers before sending them on missions – were shipped from India.

They were bound for Misrata and Tobruk in Libya on a freighter, the Hindustan Times reported.

It said a British newspaper quoted an Italian investigator as saying: “ISIS is making a fortune from this traffic, giving it to its fighters to make them feel no pain.”

Italian investigators traced the tramadol shipment to an Indian pharmaceuticals company, which allegedly sold the pills for $250,000 to a Dubai-based importer, which then shipped them from India to Sri Lanka where they disappeared from the freighter’s documents, the report said.

The tramadol pills would sell for two dollars each in Libya, said the investigator.
