Filet-O-Fish burger with “cheese 1/3 of 1 pc” sparks shrinkflation complaints among Singaporeans

SINGAPORE: A Singaporean’s recent disappointment with a McDonald’s Filet-O-Fish order has sparked fresh shrinkflation concerns in fast food portions.

The unhappy customer took to social media, sharing a snapshot of her Filet-O-Fish and highlighting what seemed to be a “cheese 1/3 of 1 pc” on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group.

Comments flooded in, with one person remarking, “Please lah, U first time eat FOF at mac? FoF has been half slice cheese since this burger was on their menu…”

Others chimed in with similar experiences, affirming that the cheese portion has always been lean.

“It’s not 1/3..its half..been so long like that,” noted one commenter, while another reminisced about the good old days of McDonald’s, saying, “I used to work in mcd year 1999… it is all the way half cheese lah.”

Despite the consensus on the cheese portion, another Singaporean voiced his dissatisfaction with portion sizes in other menu items.

The disgruntled customer complained about the fish burger, the diminishing size of large fries, and the stinginess of chilli packets.

I also want to complain! Not only this, large fries becoming like small fries, bought 2 meals and they only give 4 packet of chilli. Ask for more they give u 1 or the most 2 more packets. Don’t want give FOC then sell like curry sauce la,” he exclaimed.

This isn’t the first time such complaints have surfaced.

In March, another instance of shrinkflation made headlines when a customer shared a photo of their “big” breakfast, which failed to fill the box it was served in.

At least shrink the box so it doesn’t look this sad,” the customer wrote in an online forum.

Similarly, in January, another Singaporean expressed shock over receiving only “half full” fries despite paying S$4.60 for a large fries. /TISG
