Nearby residents told Chinese press Lianhe Zaobao that an eyewitness saw the taxi driver in his vehicle motionless and could not be awakened.

The passer-by alerted the authorities after sensing something was wrong.

Police officers soon arrived at the scene, followed by medical personnel.

The man was confirmed to have already passed away.
