CHINA: According to VnExpress, Fan Xin Man, who was previously married to the famous filmmaker Zhang Jizhong, has come forward with some serious allegations. She’s alleging that, while they were still married, Zhang Jizhong secretly transferred an incredible 300 million yuan (S$53 million) in assets to his current wife, Du Xinglin.
Allegations
The Yangcheng Evening News just reported that, on Jun 5, Fan apparently hopped onto social media and started making some pretty big claims. The really wild part? She alleged that Zhang had already been living with Du in America before their divorce was finalized in 2016.
Fan shared that she’d actually known about the asset transfer for quite some time. She kept silent about it then because she didn’t have enough solid proof to make her case. However, she finally decided to speak up after Zhang and his current wife, Du, took legal action against her, demanding 300,000 yuan. This ongoing dispute between them reportedly dates back to 2016.
Just three months after his divorce from Fan, Zhang went on to marry Du. Fan had for almost 10 years desired no more contact with “these two dreadful people.”
To counter Fan’s accusations, Zhang took to his social media, sharing a bunch of family photos. The photos featured Zhang alongside his wife and their four children—a picture of the life they’ve built together.
Spreading damaging lies
However, behind the smiles, it’s clear Zhang has reached a breaking point. He recently broke his silence, revealing that ever since their divorce nine years ago, Fan has been spreading damaging lies, seemingly aimed at tearing down his current family.
Zhang said he’s simply been honouring the terms of their original divorce agreement, although he chose not to get into the specifics of their ongoing legal battle.
In a candid statement, he shared that for nearly a decade, Fan has done everything in her power to cause harm to both him and his wife, Du Xinglin. Explaining why he’s decided to speak up now, Zhang said, “I kept quiet and endured it all, but there comes a time when you have to stand up for what’s right.”
Warmth of family
He also revealed his past marital unhappiness, stating, “In my first marriage, I was not happy. I only felt the warmth of family when I was holding Xinglin’s hand.”
The director went on to say that he would no longer tolerate Fan’s behaviour and would stop at nothing to keep his family safe.
Zhang, who’s 74, tied the knot with Du Xinglin, 43, back in 2017. Their marriage has sparked considerable discussion due to their significant age difference, with some people likening their relationship to that of a grandfather and granddaughter.
They’ve since welcomed three children together, who are now five, four, and one year old. Du also has a child from a previous relationship, adding to their blended family.
Du took to Douyin (China’s version of TikTok) to share a glimpse into their family life, revealing that she and Zhang genuinely share the load when it comes to childcare and household chores.
Free time with family
Zhang, who’s known for his early morning workouts, clearly dedicates his free time to his family. He can often be found with his wife and kids, pitching in with everything from changing diapers and putting their youngest daughter to sleep, to driving the older children to school and helping them with their studies.
He’s quite active online, too, frequently sharing little glimpses into his daily life and even offering up parenting tips in his social media videos.
Zhang is practically a household name when it comes to bringing the beloved wuxia novels of the legendary Chinese author Jin Yong to the big screen.
He’s a household name for a reason: He’s the mastermind behind some truly incredible film adaptations, especially those based on the beloved works of Jin Yong. We’re talking about fan favourites like “The Smiling, Proud Wanderer,” “The Legend of the Condor Heroes,” “Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils,” “The Return of the Condor Heroes,” “Heavenly Sword and Dragon Saber,” and “The Deer and the Cauldron.”
What’s more, Zhang isn’t just behind the camera; he’s also stepped in front of it, taking on supporting roles in some of these very adaptations he directed. It really shows his dedication to these classic stories.
