The police announced about an hour ago that the Upper Cross Street slip road into CTE (SLE) tunnel is closed due to an accident. At 5.35pm, the slip road remained closed. Police advised motorists to use alternative routes via Outram Road or Clemenceau Avenue into CTE (SLE).

The accident happened at about 1pm. Police who said that they were alerted at 1.07pm, have arrested the 63-year-old driver. The crane on the heavy vehicle the driver was driving hit the ceiling of the CTE tunnel. It is unclear if the the crane on the vehicle had been properly stowed away.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) had been advising motorists to steer clear of that section of CTE since 1.30pm.
