Hand-held P-plate spotted: scored 0 for compliance, 10 for effort
Singapore ― A vehicle was spotted manually displaying a probational licence plate (P-plate) to other road users, garnering a score of zero for compliance but 10 for effort.
“The P-plate stands for probational plate driver. This is to warn others that this is a newbie driver,” wrote Facebook page ROADS.sg on Tuesday (Sept 28).
“Funny that the back passenger needs to hand-hold it for the driver,” the post added.
Attached was a video caught on a dashboard camera whereby a Honda Civic was spotted on the road with an unusual way of letting other road users know that the driver had a P-plate.
Lone passenger on S’pore flight; pilot calls him by name in announcements
Singapore ― “I’m alone on my flight to Singapore. The pilot makes all announcements starting with ‘Mr Alexander,’” said a passenger who took to social media to share the typically uncommon occurrence.
While travelling by air during the Covid-19 pandemic can mean fewer passengers and having the whole row to yourself, one, in particular, had the entire flight to himself.
“It’s 100 per cent true and 120 per cent surreal,” wrote Twitter user Alex Svanevik on the platform on Wednesday (Sept 29).

Singapore — In a comment on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s Facebook page on Thursday (Sept 30), Mr Tan Kin Lian asked if a health kit of “vitamins and therapeutic drugs” could be given to people with Covid who are part of the Home Recovery programme.
Starting from Sept 18, younger and fully vaccinated Covid patients have been encouraged to recover from the virus in their own homes, in order to free up hospitals to be able to attend to more gravely ill patients amid the steep rise in new infections in the past few weeks.
