Did Workers’ Party leaders mishandle the Raeesah Khan affair? I think they did big time by not acting quickly – not necessarily because of self-serving reasons but possibly more out of compassion for a fellow MP. Now, they have their work cut in regaining public trust ironically damaged by the very person they seemed to have wanted to protect.

The whole sad saga, as we all know, started because of a lie not mischievously but stupidly made in Parliament to push a speech about empowering women. In her eagerness, Raeesah Khan concocted a story in Parliament on Aug 3 about accompanying a sexual assault victim to a police station where she said she witnessed inappropriate conduct displayed by police officers.

South Korea — A clip of a café worker breaking out into a K-Pop dance while mopping, and completely unaware she had an audience, has gone viral online, with netizens expressing it was also a possible beginning of a beautiful love story.

Facebook user Toffee Yeon shared the 48-second video, which began with the female staff mopping away to a K-pop group ITZY’s ‘Loco.’

UK may soon get its first Indian PM. What about Singapore?

Nearly a year ago, The Independent Singapore published my column saying Britain is ready for an Indian prime minister, so Singapore should be ready for an ethnic minority prime minister.

Recent events suggest Britain is likely to get its first Indian prime minister sooner than later, while Singapore is seeing a delay in getting a new prime minister, let alone a prime minister from an ethnic minority.

Goh Meng Seng: HIV & COVID-19 combined to create OMICRON — Another POFMA correction direction notice issued over false claim

 

Singapore — Less than a week has passed, and opposition politician Goh Meng Seng was issued another correction notice under the Protection from Online Falsehoods and Manipulation Act (POFMA) on Friday night (Dec 3) over false claims about the Covid-19 Omicron variant.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) said that it had instructed the POFMA office to issue a correction direction to People’s Power Party leader Mr Goh for the “false and egregious” claims regarding Omicron, which lacked concluding bases.
