Joseph Schooling caught for taking cannabis overseas; calls it a “moment of weakness after going through a very tough period”

Former Olympic champion Joseph Schooling and fellow national swimmer Amanda Lim have both been found to have consumed a controlled drug. Schooling confessed to doing so in May when he was on short-term disruption from full-time National Service (NS) to train and participate in the Southeast Asian Games.

The Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday (Aug 30) that the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) “maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards drug abuse. Service personnel who test positive for drug abuse will be charged and sentenced to the SAF Detention Barracks. Those who are suspected of or confessed to abusing drugs will be placed on an SAF-supervised urine test regime as part of the treatment and rehabilitation process”.

South Korean actress Yoo Joo-eun dies by suicide; leaves heartbreaking note before her death

Yoo Joo-eun dies at just 27 years of age. Fans were told about her passing when her brother posted the news on Instagram.

“On Aug 29, 2022, Joo-eun left this place and went to a comfortable place. If you have time, please say farewell to Joo-eun on her way,” said her brother.

CEO says Singapore’s foreign talent policy is ‘do or die’ issue, but may become political if the country were to experience economic hardship

 

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong underlined the importance of building “a world-class talent pool in Singapore” in his National Day Rally speech on Aug 21, saying that the country needs top foreign workers in order to avoid being left behind.

In a media conference on Monday (Aug 29), Manpower Minister Tan See Leng outlined some of the steps toward this, including a new work pass designed to attract top talent called the Overseas Networks and Expertise Pass.

A confrontation between two men was caught on camera recently, with one man shown to be much more aggressive than the other and refusing to calm down even after an apology had been given.

A follower of the @Sgfollowsall Instagram page shared the video of the incident, which was posted on Monday (Aug 29).

Maid given a long & detailed list of 15 tasks to do in the morning, 11 tasks in the afternoon and 7 in the evening

A domestic helper with a list of over 33 tasks to perform each day took to social media asking other maids and employers for their opinions.

The helper who seemed to use a throwaway account under the name of Bella Aldama shared a photo of the typed-out list her employer gave her, with tasks for the morning, afternoon, and evening. The list of 33 tasks had to be completed daily.
