Singapore — “Today is my 28th day in Singapore waiting to apologize to a very kind and very handsome friend that I really cherish,” a mysterious netizen wrote to homegrown singer JJ Lin. The cryptic posts are circulating online, garnering a rare response from Lin.

The anonymous user asked Lin if he received “close to hundreds of messages” recently, which were forwarded from his friends and family.

It started on Dec 21, when Twitter account @Love_peace2022 replied to a previous post by Lin’s official account.

The user claimed having waited almost a month and called on Lin to respond.

Similar messages were also posted on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo under the handle C-peaceful-and-quiet1011.

The lengthy post highlighted that Lin had been a “pillar of strength” to the user’s “darkest days.”

On Dec 22, the user said it was their 28th day in Singapore and reportedly waiting to apologize to Lin.

Lin’s company, JFJ Productions, then posted a public statement on its Instagram account, refuting the “untrue and baseless insinuations” against the singer.

The company called on influential social media account holders and media outlets to stop making untrue and baseless insinuations.

Lin and JFJ Productions don’t usually respond to perpetrators deliberately creating and spreading rumours, as they don’t want to consume public resources over a few troublemakers.

They have been closely monitoring the situation and collecting evidence of such malicious actions, noting they will protect Lin’s legal rights in adherence to the law, reported Mothership.

The company also challenged anyone who tries smearing Lin’s reputation.

“If anyone is in possession of evidence pertaining to JJ Lin’s alleged criminal involvement, please report it to the relevant authorities. JJ Lin and the company will co-operate with the investigative work of the relevant authorities in order to put an end to the rumours and groundless accusations,” said JFJ Productions.

Undeterred, the anonymous user posted an update on Dec 23. The user is “still waiting to personally discuss matters between the two of us” and did not “wish to take up the time of netizens who express support or scepticism.”

The post, which was in Chinese, ended with a rainbow emoji and the words “I am waiting for you” in English.

In response to the posts, some netizens urged the user to reveal more substantial proof, if any. Meanwhile, others advised the user to stop spreading the baseless allegations to avoid getting sued.

Early Christmas morning, the user took to Twitter to post a “goodbye” message, adding they were “too tired.”

“After planning the life of the person I love… It was really difficult to muster up the courage to say goodbye,” the user added. /TISG
