Singapore ― A taxi was spotted on the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) walkway – the occurrence sparking mixed reactions from the public.
A Comfort Del Gro (CDG) taxi was caught on camera driving along the MBS pedestrian path on Sunday (Oct 3).
“This is not a road, and he endangered pedestrians who are in the hundreds,” wrote Facebook page ROADS.sg, sharing the footage posted by Instagram page sgfollowsall.
“He should be taken to task for this wrongdoing,” the post added.
The video showed the CDG taxi going around the walkway, passing through nearby pedestrians watching the unusual sight.
Members from the online community wondered if the driver lost his way, while some said he might have encountered a problem with his GPS.
“Pretty sure he made a mistake, and he is trying to get up of the situation by looking for an exit,” said Facebook user Steven Kiu, requesting more understanding on the taxi uncle’s situation.
Meanwhile, netizens highlighted the risk to public safety caused by the incident and the response of MBS management.
“This is the sign of weak security system in MBS. They should review their security and emergency response,” said Facebook user Ko Sai.
“Traffic Police better act on this rogue taxi driver,” added Facebook user Benji Wong.
It’s not the first time a taxi was caught on camera, endangering the public. Earlier this year, in September, a taxi was spotted moving forward before an elderly passenger was fully inside the car.
Nearby motorists rushed to the scene and assisted the passenger to board the taxi safely. /TISG
