Letter to the Editor | Why should only the elite 20% enjoy Swiss standard of living?

Dear Editor,

Today, I received a second warning from Facebook that my comments were against the rules and run the risk of my account being shut down. Here is basically what I said:

Singapore is ranked one of the wealthiest nations on the planet. Why then should only the elite 20% enjoy a Swiss standard of living, whilst the other 80% slog their guts out to maintain the status quo? The spoils are not distributed equitably. Common sense tells us there’s something wrong with this situation.

But Singaporeans have over the decades been systematically brainwashed until they’re now brain-dead. The powerful PAP propaganda machinery is highly effective and has convinced the majority to keep voting for them. If we have any grey matter at all, we won’t be taken in by their rhetoric. Unfortunately, Singaporeans, in general, are pretty stupid, gullible and easily taken in.

If we want a better life for our children and grandchildren, we need a new government. If not, we get what we deserve. Blame no one. Cheers.

Lawrence Seow
