Dear Editor,

I read with deep contemplation about the responses, emotional reactions and feedback from the different societal spectrums, amid the current hot topic “Govt to repeal Section 377A, amend Constitution to protect marriage definition from legal challenges” (TODAY, Aug 21).

Although I don’t think it is right to have sex between men in the concept and behaviours of morality, I also recognise or accept that it is right to decriminalise sexual relationships between consenting male adults.

As far as any affectionate acts of LGBT being strictly kept in private, and not causing any public nuisance, alarm and/or disturbance, why should the Government interfere with it?

Nonetheless, all the people of LGBT groups should be fully aware of the potential health risks and take necessary precautions as and when needed.

On the reversal, we should think or analyse from the broader perspective and positive aspects; LGBT groups are part of our big community/society. They also equally contribute to nation-building and the prosperity of our economy.

Hence, we should inclusively embrace them and live with them harmoniously without casting or sizing them up with any peculiar, discriminating and unfriendly eyes/marks.
