Singapore ― On Sunday evening (Sept 26), former Channel 8 actor Huang Yiliang took to Facebook Live to share his side of the story after what his daughter Chantalle Ng revealed about him recently on a talk show.
During the Hear Me Out session hosted by Quan Yi Fong, Ng revealed that Huang hit his daughter so hard that she had to be hospitalised for seven days. She was 11 years old when the incident happened, which led to a police report made against Huang, and Ng had to testify in court.
The actress added that she had not been in contact with Huang since Primary 5 as “his temper can be volatile”.
Huang made the news again after Quan’s talk show was aired recently, given the nature of this accusation against Huang. Huang went on Facebook to clear the air by conducting his first live stream on the social media platform for about 30 minutes.
According to the 60-year-old, his daughter refused to see him after the incident. During the live stream, the former actor said that he and his ex-wife, actress Lin Meijiao, agreed that he would be the “bad cop” when it came to disciplining Ng back then, reported Mothership.sg.
Huang said it was Lin who asked him to be the “bad cop”, while she was the “good cop” when it came to disciplining Ng. Huang revealed that the teenage Ng was easily distracted and that the “tuition centre teacher said that she was very naughty”.
According to him, it was something that he did not tell Ng or the public before, but he could no longer stay silent after learning about what Ng said on the talk show.
Huang also asked Ng to check with Lin on this matter. In addition, when he shared his side of the story in court back then, he asked Ng to stay out of the hearing so that it would not emotionally affect her. This shows that he cares about Ng’s well-being. The former actor added that Ng should not have said the things she said on the talk show, and it was “heartbreaking” to hear them.
At the end of the live stream, Huang shared that he had allocated 30 per cent of his assets to Ng and 20 per cent to Lin in a will that he drafted. Huang said that he still sees Lin as part of his family even though they are divorced. He also thanked his ex-wife for giving birth to Ng. Even after hearing what Ng said on the camera, Huang said he will not change the arrangement made in his will.
He also added that what Ng shared on camera could affect the sentencing for an ongoing court case. He emphasised that he is “not as bad” as what the media has portrayed him to be.
The live stream started with fewer than 100 viewers and ended with around 1,200 viewers. The post of the video has been shared over 2,000 times in seven hours, at the time of this writing. /TISG
