Separate incidents of cyclists riding in the middle of the road without due care have sparked comments from netizens that they are incompatible on the road and should be banned.

The first incident involved a cyclist entering Stamford Road and swerving at least two lanes before an oncoming vehicle had to blow the horn to warn the cyclist.

It was only after the cam car had honked at the cyclist that he became more aware, slowing down and looking behind him for other vehicles before crossing to the left-most lane.

“If can add a thought bubble animation on his head it would say, ‘Gahmen say I can on the road, I bicycle so no need to follow the rules like the rest of you, anything happens to me you in trouble, good right?'” commented Facebook user Plai Swoi on the ROADS.sg Facebook page post.

“Cyclists are incompatible on the roads. They should be banned,” added netizen Loh Zheng Yi.

In another post on July 3, Facebook page SG Road Vigilante – SGRV highlighted a cyclist riding in the middle of Dunearn Road and even signalled at the incoming cam car to transfer to another lane.

The camcar driver refused to transfer and instead forced the cyclist to the left-most lane before shouting, “Why the f**k are you cycling in the middle of the road?”

The original poster wrote, “Cycling in the middle lane on a rental bike without any lights and with earpods plugged into his ears. What the heck is going through his head and makes him think it is perfectly safe to be doing this.”

“This kind of cyclist needs to be taught a lesson. Otherwise, they have this kind of selfish and self-entitlement mindset. What if someone drove and didn’t manage to keep a look out of him and ended up banging into him? Yes, both need to be considerate, but this cyclist needs to learn his lesson!” said Facebook user Angus Gaijin about the video.
