The year-end holiday season is finally upon us and even if there isn’t snow in Singapore for a wintery Christmas, there’s always loads of events going on to make you feel the holiday spirit. If you aren’t travelling out this year, don’t fret now because you will have lots of fun and entertainment with the following list of activities! We also throw in money tips on how to save money on each activity simply by using certain credit cards.
Christmas Wonderland at Gardens By the Bay
Presenting wondrous illuminating light sculptures, charming festive markets and special events, spend an enchanting evening with the entire family at Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay. Back for its third year, this crowd favourite shouldn’t be missed – look out for the magnificent Ice Palace housed with an ice-skating rink, Santa’s cottage for photo-taking sessions with the man himself and the Glass House serving festive treats like turkey breast, and traditional Christmas pudding.
Tickets are selling at $6 till 15 Dec and $8 from 16 Dec to 1st Jan 2017. You can also enjoy a 25% discount on entry tickets with Visa checkout with any Visa card. If you want to visit the conservatories as well, you should use your OCBC credit card to get a 15% off on local admission rates.
Santa’s All-Star Christmas at Universal Studios Singapore
Looking for some thrill rides to end your year with a bang? Other than the usual adventure rides you can take at Universal Studios Singapore, the place is dressed up for the holiday season, filled with special performances, hourly snowfall and your favourite characters in Christmas mode.
You can use your Maybank credit card to enjoy a 15% discount on a one-day adult pass, or S$5 off on a one-day child pass.
Take A Walk Along Orchard Road
Our favourite shopping belt, Orchard Road, has been decked in Christmas Cheer. Take a walk here to soak up the Christmas cheer in the air, and get your cameras ready for loads of photo opportunities! Centrepoint has a candyland theme this year, with its corridor filled with gingerbread men and yummy festive goodies as decorations. Orchard Ion has a classy Swarovski-sponsored Christmas Tree, and Orchard Gateway has a Winter Ice theme. Shopping hours have also been extended for selected malls so that you can do your last minute shopping.
Remember to use your Mastercard while shopping for Christmas gifts at Orchard to get some lovely rewards. Mastercard holders who charge a minimum of S$300 to a Mastercard at any of the participating Orchard Road Shopping malls will receive a S$30 shopping voucher on a whilst-stocks-last basis. You can also use Citi Rewards card to earn air miles on any of your purchases.
SSO Christmas Concert
The annual Christmas Concert by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra is an event that’s enjoyed by audience young and old. There, you can enjoy classic yuletide tunes together with a popular sing-a-long segment. Tickets cost between S$28 to S$88 and you can use your Standard Chartered MasterCard to get your booking fee waivered.
Pokemon Cafe
Singaporeans seemed to be crazy about themed cafes recently and while there is quite a number of them, you should probably visit the Pokemon cafe since it’s opened for a limited time only. The cafe space will be decked out with Pikachu and friends and serving cuisine that are decorated in all kinds of Pokemon-related theme. Some standout dishes include the Pikachu Smiling Rice Omelette with Magma Sauce, Special Move Fire Blash Primal Groudon’s Bolognese and a bubbling volcanic cake.

Christmas is the season of giving, and what’s best than to spend your time and money on the needy.
