Singapore – It doesn’t take the latest technology and expensive materials for parents to promote creativity and family-bonding time with their children.

One parent in Singapore built a ‘mini-mart’ for his daughter in their Eunos home using a big cardboard box and some toilet rolls and food packaging for decoration.

Workers’ Party Secretary-General Pritam Singh who visited the family expressed his admiration through an Instagram post on May 25.

“Purchased an ice-cream from Xin Ying for two dollars. She runs a wonderful little shop selling sundry goods in the Eunos constituency and is a most polite young lady,” he wrote.

He commended the little lady for being “an ambassador for service excellence.”

Pritam Singh continued his post by urging parents to spend time with their children without the use of gadgets.

“Daddy Ken shows how the way for the rest of us fathers. Instead of turning to gadgets to occupy our little ones, a little imagination and a desire to spend quality time with our children can turn a box into a shop or a spaceship. Fathers, let’s commit to playing a pro-active part in raising our children. And let’s exchange notes too!” he wrote.

The adorable video showed Pritam buying his ice cream and receiving his change, which was more than what he paid initially.

The little girl happily and professionally handled the transaction as her father dotingly watched.

Netizens applauded the father’s handiwork and agreed that it was a good example for others to follow.
