In response to a meme showcasing the ironic timing of the weather getting rainy just when Singaporeans are leaving for work or school, many have found a sense of solidarity in sharing their experiences during the nation’s monsoon season.

The meme showed the drastic contrast between the rainy weather right when Singaporeans are about to leave their houses for work and the easy weather “any other time.”

As funny as it is, the meme does seem to have some truth to it, based on what Singaporeans have been saying online. Many online users took to the comments section to express how they relate to the meme.

“True, it always seems like it’s going to rain just as I leave my home,” said one netizen.

Another shared their struggle as a parent especially when it comes to getting children to school in rainy weather. “When I have to send the kids to school, the rain comes just in time. When the dad sends them, the sun is shining and smiling.”

Another mentioned that it always seems to rain right after getting the car washed.

SGAG, an online meme-sharing Facebook page specializing in Singaporean humour shared the meme on Thursday (Sept 22) and it got more than a thousand likes and almost four hundred shares in less than 24 hours. The subject? The far from perfect timing of the rain during monsoon season.

Not only does Singapore have the Northeast Monsoon season which lasts from December to March, but it also has the Southwest Monsoon season which lasts from June to September. In between each monsoon season is an inter-monsoon period, which is shorter.
