‘Wang Leehom did better’: Actress Kong Suet Fa slams Jet Li’s treatment of ex-wife

Taiwanese-American singer Wang Leehom is no stranger to  scandal, as the riveting revelations surrounding his messy divorce from Lee Jinglei have shown.

But one Hong Kong beauty queen turned actress says that Wang is still a better person than actor Jet Li because Wang still supports his three children.

Ms Kong Suet Fa, now 73 but looking impossibly young, uploaded a short video to her YouTube channel on Jan 29, to talk about  “scoundrels in Chinese showbiz”.

Some people have denounced Wang Leehom in the wake of his ex-wife’s eloquent tell-all posts on  social media. The ex-wife, Ms Lee, a decade younger than her husband and not a showbiz personality, outlined his alleged infidelities and said she had been made to sign an unequal pre-nuptial agreement.

Mr Wang is currently taking a break from the entertainment business.

More recently, Ms Lee revealed that she did not feel safe when the Mandopop star visited her accompanied by three other men.

But Wang is still the better man in Ms Kong’s eyes, than Beijing-born superstar Jet Li, who has become a Singaporean citizen.

She told the story of former actress Huang Qiuyan,  a Beijing Wushu Team member, whom Jet Li married in 1987, and with whom he has two daughters.

He left her three years later and married another actress, Hong Kong-based Nina Li, with whom he also has two daughters.

Ms Kong said that when she was in Los Angeles some years ago to perform, she invited Ms Huang to take part in the show, but she declined.

She was then working as a beautician, said Ms Kong, and had only three clients. If she cancelled on one client in order to appear on Ms Kong’s show, she might lose that client. And she would then be unable to support herself.

At the time, Ms Huang’s two daughters with Li were in Beijing and she could not  afford to fly there to see them.

Ms Kong said was surprised that Mr Li, whose net worth today is said to be US$250 million and who was already wealthy back then, did not help the mother of his older daughters out.

”Compared to Jet, Leehom did better,” Ms Kong said.

Well, this may be the Hong Kong actress’ opinion but we’re not too sure what Ms Lee Jinglei would have to say on the matter.
