One man has taken his devotion to President Donald Trump to a whole new level – and the best thing is, he not even an American and lives 8,100 miles away in India. The Indian man Bussa Krishna has spent the past three years worshiping Trump as a god, carrying around a picture of the President and praying to him several times a day.
31-year-old Bussa, a farmer from a remote Konne village in Telangana’s Jangaon district in India, worships Trump every day as part of his prayer rituals. Placed along with other gods in his worship room, Bussa puts vermillion in his own blood for the President’s photograph and worships him with flowers and fire offerings.
Bussa started to worship Trump after two Indian men were killed by a US Navy veteran in an act of hate crime in February last year. The veteran later pleaded guilty to the charges of murder and attempted murder, and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility for parole for the murders.
Trump ascended the Presidency of the USA about a month before the unfortunate incident and had pledged to “make America great again”. Bussa started worshiping Trump hoping that someday his prayers would reach the President and that he would protect Indians who are in the USA, helping Trump to “make America great again”.
Bussa does not know much about Trump and thinks Trump is a very strong person because he has participated in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) competitions in the past. He said that he is highly impressed with the President’s strong persona and the “boldness with which he takes his decisions”.
Bussa who hopes to meet the President in person one day, claims the Trump even tweeted about him on June 19, 2018. There is however no record of this tweet on Trump’s Twitter timeline.
Bussa said people in his village called him mad and suggested he visit a psychologist. “I told them ‘I don’t require any, maybe you should go, because he is my God and I am not bothered about stuff others say’,” he said.
A neighbour said Bussa walked around the streets around his home saying “Trump is my God, he is in my heart. I like him very much, so I keep worshiping him”.
Another said: “Seeing him always doing puja (worship) for Trump’s photo, his parents left his house and are now staying with their relatives. Even this did not make him stop worshiping Trump and doing puja. Wherever he goes, he always carries the Trump photo with him. Whether he goes to the shop, or fields, or to buy something. He always carries the photo with him.”
Busa’s Facebook page where he records his worship of Trump has garnered the approvals of many supporters – many among them being Americans.

One American commenter on Busa’s FB post said: “Thank you. I am glad to see that there are people like you you recognizes what a great President we have, unlike the liberals haters in the USA.”
Another from New Jersey (referencing the conspiracy theory that believes the powerful elite are secretly plotting to take over the world) said: “India people love our President. [B]ecause they know he is not a part of the corrupt global elites. [A]nd he is against NWO [New World Order].”
Yet another Facebook user from New York wrote: “Thank you dearly my Indian Friends. As an American Trump supporter since day one I send all you Trump supporters out in India the most positive of vibes, energy, God’s blessings [and] white light. I love Indian cuisine, I fin[d] vastu shastra fascinating [and] love the [Bollywood] music videos.”

Busa said that he intends to build a temple for President Trump soon. Worship of politicians and movie stars is a common scene in India. Recently, a temple was dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a city in Gujarat, India. It was later removed following Modi’s displeasure.
Trump likewise is not known to support such worship. In July last year in speaking about religious freedom at the Celebrate Freedom Concert in Washington D.C, Trump said ‘In America we don’t worship government, we worship God’. He is also known to frequent churches and has been recorded dancing in some.
Trump’s predecessor Obama however has publicly acknowledged that he (among other totems) carried a Hindu talisman with him in his pocket.
The totems Obama carries with him included rosary beads given to him from Pope Francis, who he met at the White House this fall; a tiny Buddha statue procured upon him by a monk; a silver poker chip that was once the lucky charm of a bald, moustachioed biker in Iowa; a figurine of the Hindu monkey God Hanuman; and a Coptic cross from Ethiopia.
