Ho Ching shares post from musician Jeremy Monteiro saying catching Covid now a matter of ‘when’ not ‘if’

Singapore — Madam Ho Ching, the wife of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and outgoing chief executive officer of Temasek Holdings, continues to help educate the public concerning the Covid-19 pandemic, including sharing a post that says catching the virus is a matter of “when” and no longer “if.”

The post she shared is from award-winning jazz musician Jeremy Monteiro, which he published on Sunday (Sept 26) to encourage people to get their vaccine shots.

Lim Tean calls Lee Hsien Loong ‘Prime Minister Who Has Disappeared!’

Singapore — Amid the rise in Covid cases, the Multi-Ministry Task Force has taken centre stage with communicating the government’s strategies in managing the pandemic, especially Health Minister Ong Ye Kung and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong.

But lawyer and opposition leader Lim Tean seems to be wondering where Singapore highest official, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, is.

In a Monday morning Facebook post (Sept 27), Mr Lim called PM Lee, “The Prime Minister Who Has Disappeared!”

Malaysian Actor Nazrief Nazri’s 2-month-old baby COVID-19 positive

Malaysia ― On Sept 22, Malaysian actor Nazrief Nazri took to his Instagram to repost an IG Story by his wife, entrepreneur Aziatul Aqma Hamdan. The father shared that the couple’s two-month-old son Noah had contracted Covid-19.

His wife said that Noah had to undergo a routine polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test as he was scheduled to undergo circumcision that day, only to end up testing positive for Covid-19.

“Noah didn’t have any major symptoms, just a little phlegm,” Aziatul wrote in her IG story.

Speaking to the Malaysian news portal mStar, Nazrief explained more about his son’s condition. The father-of-one said that he was taken aback when he found out that Noah had tested positive.

Driver in Lucky Plaza car crash jailed 2 years 6 months

Singapore ― The man who ploughed into six women on the sidewalk outside Lucky Plaza on Orchard Road on Dec 29 was sentenced to jail for two years and six months.

Chong Kim Hoe, a Malaysian man who is a Singapore permanent resident, now 66, will also be disqualified from driving all classes of vehicles for 10 years after he is released from prison.

On Monday (Sept 27), the Deputy Public Prosecutor urged the court to sentence Chong to between two and three years’ jail and disqualify him from driving all classes of vehicles for 10 years. Chong’s defence lawyer pleaded for leniency and said that the former had remained at the scene and cooperated with investigations.

According to court documents, the driver increased the speed of his car as he made a U-turn along Nutmeg Road behind Lucky Plaza. He apparently lost control of his vehicle and drove into the footway where the women sat, collided into a crash barrier and ended up on a service road.

Terry Xu underlines TOC received no foreign funding, says TOC won’t submit additional information to IMDA

Singapore — Mr Terry Xu, the editor of the embattled socio-political website The Online Citizen, was quoted on Tuesday (Sept 28) as saying that TOC will not submit any other information to the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA).

IMDA suspended TOC’s class licence earlier this month, requiring it to stop posting content on its website and social media channels.

In a CNA article on Sept 28, Mr Xu is quoted as saying, ”IMDA’s invalidation of TOC’s subscription model in 2019 which has been in existence since 2014 is nothing but harassment against TOC and intimidation of TOC’s subscribers.”
