Despite the rapid transition to online classes due to the Covid-19 pandemic, people can still forget to turn off their mic or camera or, worse, start doing other things on the computer while sharing their screen.
Such was the experience of a Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) student who forgot she was sharing her screen and began Googling the answer to her teacher’s question.
“Scarred for life to share anything on Zoom anymore,” wrote TikTok user Aida on Feb 24. She uploaded a video of her unforgettable experience.
“I forgot I was sharing my screen, and my lecturer asked me for the equation of energy,” wrote Aida. She went silent because she didn’t know the answer.
However, she wasn’t about to let her lecturer down and quickly opened another tab on her computer to search for the answer, all the while forgetting that the entire class could see what she was doing on screen.
The teacher could be heard saying, “Wow”, as Aida continued scrolling for the answer. The lecturer sensed by then that Aida didn’t know the answer and began asking another student for the formula.
With over 365,000 views and 50,900 likes to date, it appears that Aida isn’t the only one who has gone through such an ordeal.
“I felt so paiseh to even watch this!” said a netizen.
“Please, I’m getting secondhand embarrassment,” a TikTok user added.
Those lucky enough to have been spared from such embarrassment thus far commented that this was a “new fear unlocked.”
Meanwhile, some gave expert advice on “searching on your phone” for similar instances.
On a positive note, the experience appeared to be effective enough in ensuring that the student will never forget the “energy equals power multiplied with time” formula. /TISG
