A kind and alert stranger riding along the Bartley Road underpass spotted a black cat which looked very much like Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon. As the cat could not be tracked, the rider took to social media in hopes of finding more information on the feline’s owners and possible adopters.

“I found this beautiful, thick and long coat black cat on the side of Bartley Road underpass,” wrote Zamani Zamri, a member of the Facebook page Sayang Our Singapore’s Community Cats.

After getting the cat checked, Mr Zamri confirmed it was not microchipped; thus, he was unable to find its owners.

“Please DM me if this cat belongs to anyone,” he said. “Also, if there’s anyone that can foster or adopt, please contact me.”

He noted in a comment that the cat was sterilized, its ears tipped, which is a universal way of signifying to the community that it’s spayed or neutered.

Netizens quickly commended Mr Zamri’s actions, noting he had just saved a life. “I dread to think what might have happened if kitty had not met you, its saviour,” added Facebook user Huang Meilin.

Others also indicated intent to possibly give the cat a furever home by tagging people they know and adding notes like “foster this void” or “is this your cat?” in wishful thinking.

Meanwhile, a couple of netizens hoped this was not a case of abandonment. “Make a police report, can trace through camera who dump the cat over there,” said Facebook user Grusilawati Mamaruzi. /TISG
