Dear Editors,
I am quite concerned over the high handed way that the authorities are handling the “unauthorised” release of photographs, relating to the undue incident which killed CPC Liu in the line of duty.
I personally feel that besides photographing the corpse which is highly disrespectful to the deceased like the MRT trainees death on the tracks, the rest showing how willful or careless Ministries are should be released in the name of Public Interest and Accountability that is required of a government!
CPC Liu’s unexpected death is 1 too many and the Public has grown wary of the appointments to the opaque Committees of Inquiry with their template responses that always ends up seeing 1 or 2 scapegoats taking the rap!
We do not have the luxury of oversight of Judicial appointments due to the manner which we give too much powers to the PAP via a GRC Parliamentary system and hence, are unable to prevent establishment figures from taking up Judicial appointments in a musical chair rotation from Ministries to Judiciary.
A proper functioning Judiciary and Law Society are ones that review and strike down laws that are grossly unjust or contradicts the Constitution and its intention when enacted.
We must stand up and count among the support for the 5 NSFs who are about to become victims of a hybrid regime when they clearly did nothing wrong except only in the eyes of the PAP ministers. We already have no clue as to how Dominique Sarron, Dave Lee, Kok Yuen Chin and even Benjamin Lim who died in the midst of police investigations. When is enough, really enough for you?
