UNITED KINGDOM — “Ratty”, a tiny rat, rescues cancer sufferer Caroline Davis, 61, from burning to death by moving her lit cigarette and waking her up.

When Caroline dozed off to sleep and left her lit cigarette unattended, rodent Ratty sprang into action after the cigarette set her dressing gown burning.

In a Sunday (Dec 11) Facebook post, Senior Minister of State for National Development Sim Ann responded to PSP NCMP Leong Mun Wai, who had questioned whether Housing and Development Board (HDB) subsidies are “really very generous relative to land costs.”

The Progress Singapore Party Non-Constituency Member of Parliament had written in a much-shared Dec 8 Facebook post that “land costs should be taken out of the picture” and that “the time has come for us to question whether even our public housing policy has lost its way.”

SINGAPORE: Some clever food and beverage establishments have offered diners to pay in advance for their Chinese New Year reunion dinners, and it seems that many have taken them up on their offer.

One restaurant owner told Shin Min Daily News that around 70 per cent of diners who ordered their meals ahead have paid in full, while others have put down a 50 per cent deposit.

A netizen’s video about Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim saying that he would not accept his salary in solidarity with the Malaysian people as they rally to deal with high living costs has been circulated on social media, getting many Singaporeans talking.

“Our prime minister’s salary is the highest in the entire world,” a TikToker said in a video he published on Nov 30. He then compared it with the leader of Singapore’s next-door neighbour, Malaysia.
