Singapore — YouTuber Dee Kosh, who faced accusations of sexual harassment from several young males in 2020, appeared to have his case heard in a district court on Tuesday (Jan 25).
The 33-year-old Dee Kosh (Born Darryl Ian Koshy) is accused of three counts of offering cash to boys below 18 for sexual services. He was first charged in August 2021 with a total of seven charges.
He is also accused of three offences under the Films Act and one under the Children and Young Persons Act.
His alleged offences involved at least four boys aged between 15 and 17.
In Feb 2017, Dee Kosh reportedly asked a 16-year-old male for sexual services in exchange for a payment of $2,000. The following year, between March and June, he offered money to a 15-year-old male, also for sexual services.
In Jul 2018, he allegedly offered a 17-year-old male $1,000 for sexual services, and in Aug 2020, he offered the same amount to another 17-year-old, also for sexual services.
In Aug 2020, accusations that he had sexually harassed young males began to emerge on social media, resulting in several police reports filed against the popular media personality, who at one point had hundreds of thousands of followers on YouTube and Instagram.
After he was arrested, multiple obscene videos were found among his possessions, which included some videos of himself in sexual acts with others, from whom he had not obtained consent for filming.
Dee Kosh is defended by lawyers from Eugene Thuraisingam LLP including Mr Johannes Hadi and Mr Joel Wong.
Mr Wong told District Judge Terence Tay on Tuesday that the prosecution is ready to proceed with the case and that Koshy’s instructions were that he is “ready to take a certain course of action”.
The lawyer asked for 10 to 12 weeks’ time to sort out the agreed statement of facts, adding that it will “contain some complexities so it might take some time to work out”.
Dee Kosh’s case has been adjourned to March 10. He did not turn up in court, as he was not required to do so. He remains out on bail of S$20,000. /TISG
