Singapore ― With individuals spending more time at home during the Covid-19 pandemic, more and more have turned into culinary arts, including celebrities like Fann Wong, who recently announced she would be launching an online pastry shop.

The soon-to-launch pastry shop is called “Fanntasy,” showing a play on words.

Her website currently reads, “Fanntasy makes everything better. We are coming soon.”

According to Mothership.sg, the site will open to the public on Oct 13, 2021, at 9:29 am.

At the moment, those interested in receiving updates can input their email addresses on the website.

Reports noted that Ms Fann’s interest in the kitchen started due to more time spent at home.

She craved old-school desserts during the circuit breaker period last year.

Two items confirmed in Fanntasy’s menu are the Signature Valrhona Chocolate Tart and Musang King Gula Melaka Tart.

The recipes were inspired by her husband Christopher Lee and son Zed’s favourite flavours.

The first will be sold for S$58 each and features a cremeux of Valrhona 70 per cent dark chocolate, butter sable and almond sponge, topped with gold dust.

The second item will have the more distinct taste of musang king (a durian breed from Malaysia) pulp and gula melaka sauce, also set on a butter sable. It will be topped with desiccated coconut and sold for S$68 each.

While it hasn’t been confirmed if Ms Fann will be doing the baking for her shop, like Jeanette Aw, she did design illustrations for the packaging.

Only 1,000 tarts will be available for purchase on the first launch, reported 8 Days.

Ms Fann also took to Instagram on Monday (Sept 27) to share that she was trying out new recipes.

She noted that she ended up with so much excess that she made cookies in various shapes like a seahorse, octopus and starfish. /TISG
